The SERA NO2 Test allows you to easily and reliably measure the nitrite (NO2) level in freshwater, marine aquariums and pond water.
Nitrite is one of the most toxic substances for fish. It can accumulate in the water when the biological filtration is not functioning properly, for example during the start-up of an aquarium or pond, after a disruption of the filtration system, or when the organic load is too high.
Regularly checking nitrite levels helps detect water quality problems at an early stage and allows corrective action to be taken before fish health is affected.

What should you do if the nitrite level is too high?
For slightly elevated nitrite levels, SERA recommends using a suitable biological product to support nitrifying bacteria:
- sera bio nitrivec for freshwater
- sera marin bio reefclear for marine aquariums
- sera pond bio nitrivec for ponds
In cases of high nitrite pollution, rapid action may be required with:
- sera toxivec for freshwater
- sera pond toxivec for ponds
